Woodbridge Social Support Training (All Day)
FULL DAY Peer Support Training occurring on Thursday, October 17th from 10:00am-3:00pm EST. In-person location to be announced later. There will be a later virtual component for completion of the training.
Topics include: *Overview of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders *Treatment options and intervention strategies *Roles and responsibilities of social support volunteers *Launching and leading peer support groups *Role-playing scenarios and difficult situations
The curriculum includes an overview and information about postpartum depression and related perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), including how to distinguish between the baby blues and PMADs; the definition, value, and types of social support. The interactive part of training will discuss how to handle difficult situations and role-playing common issues and support group scenarios that arise when supporting women experiencing PMADs. This portion of training provides sufficient time for interaction, role-playing, discussion, and feedback.
